How is the main conflict resolved?

The Macon Ironmen face many obstacles on their way to the 1971 Illinois State Championship. The school's budget is low, its student population is small, and its baseball coach is without experience. They face adversity, however, with determination and a sense of joy. Yes, the team is eliminated before the championship game (roster technicality), and they never do find out just how far they could have gone. In the end..... they embrace each other, the season, and the impact it had on each and every one of their lives.
