One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

McMurphy is exhausted at the end of the fishing trip. What, specifically, do you think is the cause of his exhaustion, and what, specifically, do you think he doesn’t have enough time to do?

McMurphy was really pushing the bounds of freedom during the fishing trip. McMurphy was the impetus behind the fishing trip and he felt responsible for it. He not only had to make sure it went through but also that the men rediscovered themselves. I think it was the culmination of all of McMurphy's efforts to emancipate these men from the combine. I don't think McMurphy feels he has enough time to help these men. Nurse Ratched really wants to stop McMurphy at any cost.
