One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

In his conference with the psychologists of the hospital McMurphy freely admits that he doesn't think of himself as insane. In turn, he posses the question to the doctors "what is crazy anyways?" Do you believe that McMurphy  is insane? Provide evidence to support your opinion.

No, McMurphy is not insane. He took a plea deal to avoid a prison term. On the contrary, McMurphy sees the truth. In many ways he is a Christ-figure who sees that these men are being damaged by the insanity of Nurse Ratched and the institution. I don't think that the doctors could give a satisfactory answer to McMurphy about what "crazy" means.
