Why do you think Slim is respected so much ?

Slim is the boss, and he takes it seriously. He is respectful of the other men, and they in turn respect him. He's a tough guy, a real cowboy; he's fair, gentlemanly, and authoritative, but the men really like him...... everyone except Curley.
