Why did Crooks let Lennie come in and sit down when he did not want him to come in at first? Why does he talk to Lennie the way he does?

Crooks was as lonely as Lennie, and Crooks realized that Lennie didn't understand his segregation, nor think of people in those terms. He didn't see Lennie as a threat, and thus, he allowed him to stay.
