Of Mice and Men

Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck

Slim says, “Ain’t many guys travel around together ... I don’t know why. Maybe ever’body in the whole damn world is scared of each other.” – What do you think he means by this? What would they be scared of?

First, migrant worker are normally loners. They do not travel together.... and they don't put themselves in situations where others depend on them. This is the reason most are not married, and they don't have families..... things that would slow them down. As far as fear, we can infer the same, fear of relationships is the same as being tied down by relationships.
