Of Mice and Men revolves around a friendship between George Milton, the main character, and his accomplice, Lennie Small. Throughout the novel, we are made aware of Lennie's intellectual disability and how it impacts George. One main example of this early on in the novel is shown by how Lennie and George leave their job on the farm that they are working at because Lennie unknowningly rapes a woman on the farm. George is often frustrated by Lennie and how his relationship with Lennie costs him dearly. In order to punish Lennie and make him feel bad, he would make him guilty by often talking about how much he could accomplish and excel without Lennie's presence.
