Both Lennie and Crooks have a sense of isolation because of who they are. Crooks is isolated because of his color and Lennie is isolated by his low emotional intellect. Eventually, they find each other.
Both are despised by the average man/worker on the ranch, Crooks because he is black, Lennie because he is mentally slow. Crooks knows that sometimes dreams are hard to achieve, but he would like to go with George and Lennie and simply hoe the garden.
