Of Mice and Men

Despite the frequent tension and suspicion between characters in chapter 2, there are occasional indications that not everyone at the ranch is “mean,” to use Lennie’s description. What are 2 examples of kindness in chapter 2?

Candy is kind to George and Lennie. He shows them the bunkhouse and tries to explain how the ranch works. Slim is also respectful and kind to both men. He sizes Lennie up and thinks the best of him. rather than he is "stupid". Later Slim will give Lennie a puppy.
