We can infer that anybody married to Curley would be unhappy. Curley has a major case of "small guy complex"; he is perpetually angry. He hates the fact that he is small and tries to compensate by picking on people. Candy suggests that the relationship between the two is abusive. he wears aglove fulla Vaseline” on one hand because he's keepin' that hand soft for his wife.”
