1. They encourage Candy to shoot his dog and only companion. The fact that Candy only realy listens when slim comments shows how respected slim is and how his word is law. This is also a cataphoric reference to the novels inevitable end.

2. One is that they were running away from a mob of men because Lennie had "cuddled" a girl too vigorously. THe same thing will happen at the end of the novel. Also the meeting place they decide on in the first chapter will factor in later.

3. THis just reinforces the fact that Curly is an angry small guy who finally got what he had coming to him.
