Why do you think Jocasta chose to hang herself

It is believed that Jocasta couldn't live with the shame of being married to and having children with her biological son after it was made public. Note, it didn't seem to make a difference before hand, as we are made completely aware that she tried to keep Oedipus from pursuing the truth. Thus, it was okay when no one knew about it, but shameful enough to kill herself for when it became common knowledge.
