Basically he reveals that a drunken man told him that his parents in Corinth were actually not really his parents. Oedipus was pretty suspicious of this even though his "parents" denied it. He then relates how an oracle related the "truth." It isn't until he finally learns the truth that his guilt really hits him. After Jocasta's suicide Oedipus takes a pin from a brooch from Jocasta's gown and stabs his own eyes out.
