Does this question refer to the fact he blinds himself? Oedipus condemns and punishes himself for his ignorance and lack of foresight. He was ashamed that he hadn't seen the things that stood in plain sight..... so he took his sight. He said that Apollo was the one to ordain his destiny, but he alone was responsible for piercing his own eyes.
