Oedipus Rex or Oedipus the King

What argument does Jocasta use to persuade Oedipus to ignore the sooth-sayers and oracles? What minor detail in her argument motivates Oedipus to pursue a new line of inquiry?

Jocasta insists that the prophecy is not true. She tells him that the prophecy falsely predicted the murder of Laius by his own son. She goes on to tell how Laius was killed. She reveals that Laius’ murdered occurred where three roads meet which leads Oedipus to pursue a new line of inquiry.
