Oedipus Rex

Since Greek drama was first performed during the Festival of Dionysius (a relgious ceremony), the gods were an integral part of the performance.  Further, the Greek citizenry were represented by the chorus, and their addressing of the gods was an important part of their lives and their belief systerm.
