Oedipus Rex or Oedipus the King

Note the frequent equation of physical sight with knowledge throughout this scene and the rest of the play. What is the irony of this equation?

The irony can be found in the fact that it is Oedipus who is blinded to the truth around him. His pride doesn't allow him to see the truth in the old man's words.
