helppp
After the death of Laius, Creon failed to investigate. The city was involved witht eh Sphynx, so he didn't pause to clear up the murder case. Also, Jocasta allowed the sole witness to leave the city and escape to the mountains.
Laius and Jocasta should have killed Oedipus themselves instead of trusting the servant to take care of this. What I don't understand is why Creon or anyone else in Thebes didn't inquire as to the whereabouts of they baby. One would think that everyone would be aware of Jocasta's pregnancy and celebrate the birth of the future king of Thebes. Wouldn't they then be curious about why the baby disappeared?
When Oedipus came to Thebes and solved the riddle, the people named him king without checking on his background. He might have been some nobody, not of noble birth. They should have sent someone to Corinth to verify his story.
Teiresias could have spoken up long before he was forced to speak by Oedipus. If he knew that Oedipus was the cause of the plague o the city, why did he let it go on so long before telling anyone what he knew?
