Margaret changed her mind because with her inheritance and return to London, she finds Thornton who is suffering a great loss of money. While visiting his lawyer, Thornton also discovers that Margaret never had the lover he'd believed she'd had, and that she had been protecting her brother. When their paths finally cross, they're able to admit their love for each other. Good for them! And good for Mr. Thornton's business.
