why, at the end of that scene, do you belive elie wiesel includes the stark line, "i was sixteen".

at end of novel night. reread the scene on the train (the one with the bread).

I think looking at the novel in retrospect we see Wiesel as much older than his years would indicate. He had been through way too much for his age.Ellie is still a boy with the memories of Hell.
