When Elie’s roommate said to him, “I’ve got more faith in Hitler than in anyone else. He’s the only one who’s kept his promises to the Jewish people”. Do you believe he was speaking sarcastically or truthfully? Why do you think so?

I think this is sarcastic. It is a pointed criticism to the rest of the world who merely looked on while this holocaust was happening.
