what advise does eliezer's cousin from Antwerp give his father? How is it like the advise the Polish Prisoner offers? What do both pieces of advise suggest about the meaning of a word like Family in a place like Auschwitz.?

Stein from Antwerp would say, "Take care of your son. He is very weak, very dehydrated. Take care of yourselves, you must avoid selection. Eat! Anything, anytime. Eat all you can. The weak don't last very long around here..."

The Polish prisoner had told them to at least pretend to look healthy because the weak were killed. Family is a remembrance of home, loyalty and fidelity. It is of comfort in the hell they must endure.
