what was Madame's gallery all about?

Madame's Gallery never existed. The idea of the gallery provided children with hope, and everyone wanted their pictures to be chosen...... every child wanted a deferral. Kathy and Tommy were devastated to find out that the dream of sharing artwork and the possiblity of being chosen was nothing more than a ruse.
