Why do all the black African children want to go to the multiracial government schools, like the one where Chido attends? How did Chido get into that school?

Chido is fortunate enough to attend boarding school in Salisbury because his father has the money to afford the school.

The government school has more opportunities for black children to get a higher edjucation and therefore they all want to attend that school. Chido got into that school because one of his friends father is a doner and got the headmaster to consider giving Chido a scolership which he did after Chido passed the entrance exam.
