Doglass describes Colonel Lloyd as extremely wealthy and not very nice to slaves.Lloyd often blamed them for things the horses did even though it was not their fault. He had three sons – Edward, Murray, and Daniel – and three sons-in-law – Mr. Winder, Mr. Nicholson, and Mr. Lowndes – and they also enjoyed beating the slaves. They had complete freedom to do so whenever they pleased.
