My Name is Asher Lev

If Ashers brother would have not passed away causing his mother to become very ill, how different would his childhood and growing up have been?

Asher's mother became ill after her brother died.... his uncle, not his brother. Everyone's life changed after his uncle's death. His mother became afraid for everyone..... Asher's father stopped traveling for work, Mrs. Rackover moved in with the family to help out, and Asher stayed close to home to provide her with comfort. Had the tragedy not occurred, Asher would likely have had a more normal childhood.... played more.... spent more time away from home. Note, I am referring to his life as a six year old. As he got older, he would also have been less likely to observe and hear the adult conversations in his home.... the conversations that sparked his curiosity about Russia, and the treatment of Jews there.
