why did ahab seek revenge?

Basically there are two reasons that Ahab seeks revenge. Ahab really wants to catch this whale. Perusing him for years makes him want to get him even more. The hunting and capture of the whale becomes Ahab's reason for living. Also losing his leg to the whale makes him even more pissed off!
