Why do you think Ishmael compares himself to the Fates in chapter 48?

Comparison to the "fates" deals directly with the link between Ishmael and Moby Dick. The fate of each of them directly correlates with the fate of the other; one of them will die. Therefore, both character's fates depends upon the fate of the other.
