Starbuck advises Ahab to end his persual of the whale because there are problems with the ship, they are taking in water and oil is leaking. Starbuck feels it's their duty to the owners to stop and repair the leaking oil casks. Ahab replies that he is the commander and Starbuck will do as he commands. He orders Starbuck to return to the deck, all while pointing a loaded musket at him.
