Grampa didn’t get up for breakfast. “Your granddaddy doesn’t sleep well these days, and some nights he’s up late at those Council meetings,” Ruthanne explained, “so you just as well go ahead and eat, Mr. Hiram. He said that if you want, after breakfast you can borrow his truck— if it’s not already borrowed; you ask me, he’s too free and easy lending that truck around— and take a look around town.
