Can you explain the theme in this story anyone?

One of the story's main themes is that of loneliness and isolation. Miss. Brill, a teacher and caretaker, has no friends..... no one to share with. In her eyes, being a part of the setting and observing those around her affords her a sense of belonging..... unfortunately, she can't bring those people home with her.
