Shylock hates Antonio for a variety of reasons;

1) Antonio is a Christian.

"I hate him for he is a Christian...."

2) Antonio lends money without interest.

3) Antonio bullies him because he is a Jew.

"You call me misbeliever, cut-throat dog, And spit upon my Jewish gaberdine."
