Salarino is knows Antonio is worried about his ships and his business fortunes. Salarino tries to calm Antonio down by saying his ships are big and strong among other tiny ships. Still we know that Antonio's financial success is dependent on these ships. If something happens to them, he is ruined. Antonio would then have to forfeit on the loan Shylock gave.
