What does Tubal mean by the monkey?

this is from act 3 scene 1 line 111 to 112. I wanted to know whether the monkey mentioned is lorenzo or a real monkey.

Tubal is referring to a genuine monkey. Shylock's daughter traded away her father's turquoise ring for a monkey.
