Why was Antonio in a sad mood in he beginning and what did Salarino and Salanio thought it to be?Mention the aspects put forward by both of them.

We are not completely sure of the reason for Antonio's melancholy. Salarino suggests that the reason his concern for his ships in stormy seas. Antonio refutes this. I think, having studied the play, that Antonio is lonely. He craves companionship, perhaps of a man like Basanio but this angle of the story is not completely answered by Shakespeare.
