is antonia a wise mirchant? if so justify?

Antonio is a Christian merchant of Venice, he agrees to vouch for a loan to Bassanio from Shylock by putting a pound of his flesh up as collateral. I do not think he is especially wise. He puts up his fleet of ships as collateral without actually knowing they are safe. He also risks his livelihood so his friend can woo a woman. When Antonio's ships are lost, he has no other resources.
