how would the speaker have behaved if he had ships at sea like those of antonio?what would have made him sad?

Antonio is worried about the fate of his ships, he has much of his fortune invested in their cargo. If the speaker had ships at sea under the same circumstances, he too would have been worried over his ships, but Antonio's character is melancholy, and I don't see that type of sadness in the speaker.
