Salerio and Solanio tell Antonio he is only worried about the arrival of his ships. Antonio responds that his ships aren't the reason for his sadness, and Solanio notes that it must be love. Antonio believes his position in the world is that of an actor on the stage.... a sad one.

I hold the world but as the world, Gratiano— A stage where every man must play a part, And mine a sad one.
