Bassanio reveals a part of his true character when he opens the casket and discovers he has won Portia. What does he do and what does it tell us about his character?

In this scene, Bassanio reveals his romantic side. He chooses the casket and wins the girl, but he then asks for her consent. From this, we can infer that Bassanio wants more than Portia's wealth, he wants a relationship..... he wants love.
