What is a 'grandsire cut in alabaster'?Why is the the grandsire said to "sleep when he wakes?

'Grandsire set in alabaster' refers to someone sitting like a statue. 'Sleep when he wakes' refers to Antonio's depressed state and the fact that he isn't really living.
