The entire process of the Holocaust, the suicide of Anja Spiegelman, and the separation of the Jews, the discovery of their bunkers, and the incredibly inhuman ways they were treated in the concentration camps were all major stressors for Artie's father.  Without specifying exactly where you are in the book, these are all good answers.
