What does Vladek mean on page 50, when he says, “Well at least I did something.” Do you believe that he is justified in feeling this way? Explain.

I believe this has to do with trying to stop his son from joining the war. Vladek's father was certainly justified in feeling this way. The horrors of war went far beyond mere death. Vladek's father knew he had to try and save his son both from suffering himself and imposing suffering on others.
