On page 80, Vladek says, "will I walk slowly, they will take me..Will I run they can shoot me!" What does he mean? Who is he talking about?

Vladek was walking near a train station on his way to see Ilzecki when he saw soldiers grabbing Jews and beating them whether they had papers or not. He was frightened that he would either be grabbed by the soldiers...... or shot. He did not want to draw attention to himself.
