Morning was Maniac's favorite part of the day.

Mornings were the best. He would rise with the sun's color, before the sun itself, before the bison, and set out. He came to think of these appleskin hours as his special time with the town.

Maniac's favourite time of day was the "before working-people" time everything was dead silent it was just him Bow-Wow (the Beale's dog) and the silence he loved it. But he also loved the time that came after it with the sounds of the pancakes sizzling on a grill and the low rumble of voices beginning to stir.
