Macbeth

Why might Shaakespeare have decided to show the murder of Lady Macduff and her children on stage?

Explain how watching this scene rather than hearing about th event occurring might affect the audience's view of Macbeth.

Depicting the scene onstage illustrates the horror of the murders. Witnessing the murders makes them very real and extinguishes any empathy for Macbeth's character. The act exposes who the man has become.
