Why does Macbeth not want to go through with killing King Duncan?

Macbeth says King Duncan has been good to him lately and he wants to enjoy his new title and popularity.

"he hath honored me of late, and I have brought/golden opinions from all sorts of people/which would be worn now in their newest gloss, not so soon"
