Was there a point in the play when macbeth could have stopped or prevented his decline into a killer?

Macbeth buys his ticket to psycho-killer town early in the play. If he had dismissed the witches in act one, he might have had a chance. If he had only listened to Banquo's advice that "the instruments of darkness tell us truths only to betray us...." Macbeth might have sell had a head at the end of the play. He could have also put on his big boy pants and not let his wife push him around.
