Unfortunately the knowledge Macbeth most desires is to know his future and his fate. The witches capitalise on his thirst for information which Macbeth can use to plan his future greatness. In their first and sceond set of prophesies the witches mislead Macbeth into believing he is invincible and destined for greatness when in fact the opposite is true.

Macbeth uses the knowledge of the future to fuel his ambition to be king. He realises his ambition, but briefly and at great cost.
