Macbeth

Macbeth

Okay, so I understand that Macbeth was killed for his unruly ways as ruler of Scotland. But, what I don't understand is how he went from an honorable lieutenant to an evil dictator. Can someone explain this to me?

That is the whole point of Macbeth. Power corrupts the hearts of men and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Macbeth started out as a noble servant of the king but his tragic flaws define him once he steals power. Macbeth's frailties turn him into a paranoid sociopath bent on keeping his "borrowed robes" at any expense.
