The main source of conflict is Macbeth wanting to be king despite his better judgment. This internal conflict is apparent through much of the play. There is also conflict between Macbeth and his wife. She really pushes him around in the beginning. There is also some external conflict between Macbeth and Banquo. Banquo suspects Macbeth and Macbeth wants to be rid of Banquo (and his son).
